Dorothy Sisneros - Founder and Partner, Thunderbird Leadership Consulting |Dorothy Sisneros is the founder and a Managing Partner of Thunderbird Leadership Consulting. Prior to Thunderbird’s formation in 2007, Dorothy was the founder and principal of Sisneros and Associates (1999). Dorothy knows the power of effective teams in the workplace and she is skilled at guiding leaders to engage the wisdom of their employees; helping people at all levels understand their contribution to mission, and assisting leaders to develop the authenticity and skills to accomplish their goals in a complex environment. While the majority of Dorothy’s work over 30 years (as an employee and then as a business owner) has been with hospitals, physician practices and clinics, she has also worked extensively within higher education in the community college system. Dorothy has extensive experience in service excellence, leadership, strategic planning, talent management and organizational dynamics. She has served in a variety of leadership roles including Director of Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Department Chair/Faculty and District Director of Executive Talent/Succession Planning. Dorothy is a seasoned executive coach, facilitator, trainer, and strategic partner. Dorothy earned a B.S. in Education, M.S. and M.B.A. She is a DiSC facilitator and a member of SHRM and ASTD. She is a Founding Fellow of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Course Description: The world of quality reporting and performance measurement has grown more complex over the past ten years. Many stakeholders work on interrelated projects and initiatives. At the heart of all of these initiatives is the desire to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes, but the reality is that many providers are struggling to navigate the maze of program requirements. As quality reporting moves from pay for reporting to pay for performance, many changes will be required in the EHR systems as well as in the quality reporting/performance structure for hospitals. This session discusses the expanding world of quality, the overlaps and conflicts between measures, and the challenges involved in implementing eMeasures.

Learning Objectives: After this session, the attendees will be able to 1.) describe the four current or proposed programs that will affect Medicare quality reporting for hospitals and the potential impact to hospital reimbursement; 2) compare and contrast the quality reporting requirements in the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) for Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) with existing quality reporting programs.

Course Description:Clinical, financial and operational perspectives on the impact of applying cost accounting to medical procedures will be presented. Understanding the value of cost accounting to various constituencies enables us to communicate effectively to build a business case or gain support. Additionally, an IT-agnostic technical explanation of calculating procedure cost will be shared so that you may apply the methodologies in your own organization. Having the ability to understand precise costs for every encounter, procedure or episode of care is essential to demonstrate both value to purchasers and the impact of innovations in care delivery.

Ann Marie Huddleston - Director Health Industries Advisory-Provider, PwC| Former OR administrator aligns people, process and technology to support organizational change. Ann Marie Huddleston specializes in healthcare performance improvement. With over 20 years of hospital and healthcare consulting experience, she has led financial turnarounds, technology, and change enablement projects in both clinical and non-clinical areas. Ms.Huddleston's notable assignments include process improvement, labor and nonlabor optimization, interim management, managed care, and physician practice management for over 30 healthcare organizations throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico, UK and Mexico. Ms. Huddleston excels at aligning physicians' and other stakeholders' incentives to achieve change. Prior to joining PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mrs. Huddleston was a Senior Director with a Restructuring firm. She was President of a privately-held healthcare consulting corporation, and before that, she spent six years with the Business Consulting division of Arthur Andersen, specializing in healthcare. She completed her Administrative Residency at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and has six years of Hospital Administration experience in the Surgical Services department of Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas,Texas. Ms. Huddleston received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Baylor University and a master's degree in healthcare administration from Texas Woman's University.

Course Description: Predictive Analytics can help solve charge capture issues. This session will discuss how hospitals are able to use these analytics to identify issues and inaccuracies in the revenue cycle and supplement clinical documentation improvement, coding audits, and other data quality improvement efforts. In reviewing a case study participants will gain an insight into an evolving method of process improvement.

Seth S. Avery - Chief Executive Officer, AppRev | Mr. Avery has over 20 years of experience as a healthcare executive, serving as auditor, consultant, Administrator, and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. Avery has served as the CFO for a major teaching hospital in Texas, and the Executive Director of a leading New Jersey Medical School. He has worked at government, for-profit, and not-for-profit health care providers, as well as at a Big 6 organization. He has been certified by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and is a past member of the National Advisory Board for the AAPC. Mr. Avery has a B.S. from Campbell University, an M.A. in Economics from the University of New Mexico, and a Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan University. Mr. Avery is also a 14 year veteran of the U.S. Military, serving both as a member of 5th Special Forces Group and as a Medical Service Corps officer.
